We at Gateway East Community Day Schools believe that ALL STUDENTS CAN LEARN. The faculty and staff are dedicated to providing excellence in education in an environment conducive to learning where building relationships with students is the core foundation to student success. The staff have chosen certain Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) that best describe our mission while aligning with the District EDLRs of developing effective readers, competent writers, articulate speakers and quantitative problem solvers. The ESLRs are:
- Students at Gateway East will meet all components of their individualized Board-approved Rehabilitation Plan with regard to credits, attendance, behavioral expectations, community service, and counseling.
- Students at Gateway East will be accomplished life-long learners who can read, write, communicate, and quantitatively problem solve in order to thrive in society.
- Students at Gateway East will be effective communicators who can demonstrate oral and written competency in a variety of settings in order to positively impact the community.
- Students at Gateway East will be good citizens who are involved, responsible, and respectful community members that contribute back to society through positively participating in their schools and communities.
- Students at Gateway East will work to improve productivity while becoming effective, respectful, responsible and goal-oriented people.
Purpose
The purpose of Gateway East Community Day School is to provide an alternative learning opportunity to students who have been placed on suspended expulsion. Our staff focuses on the whole child and believes that a bad decision does not mean a child is a bad person. With the proper care, guidance and support, students can and do make changes in their attitude, conduct and outlook on school so that they either graduate or return to their home schools with the ability to be successful. Gateway East is a success- oriented school that truly cares about kids. |
